CALL TO ORDER
Public Hearing for the Fire Protection Contract was called to order at 6:30pm by Supervisor Peter Shrope at the Brighton Town Hall, 12 County Road 31 (aka Jones Pond Road), Paul Smiths, New York, on July 9, 2026

Others Present: Elizabeth DeFonce-Town Clerk /Tax Collector, Elaine Sater-Historian, four members of the Paul Smiths Gabriels Volunteer Fire Department (PSGVFD), one resident
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice of this Public Hearing was posted on the Town Clerk’s Sign Board on June 3, 2026, and published in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Fire Protection Contract: Supervisor Peter Shrope said the Town received a contract from the Paul Smiths- Gabriels Volunteer Fire Department (PSGVFD) for the next five years with a 3% increase each year.
Supervisor Peter Shrope opened the floor for public comment on the Fire Protection Contract. The Fire Department’s insurance protects its members, their vehicles and equipment, and the town. This contract may be terminated at any time with 30 days’ written notice and is payable in two installments.
